OpenCaseLaw Word Add-in — Effective March 28, 2026

1. Provider

The OpenCaseLaw Word Add-in ("the Add-in") is provided by OpenCaseLaw, operated by Jonas Hertner.

2. Service description

The Add-in provides access to a database of Swiss court decisions directly within Microsoft Word. Users can search decisions, insert formatted citations, and (with a Pro subscription) verify legal references using AI-assisted analysis.

The reference verification feature uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude) to analyze legal citations. AI output may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. Verification results are provided for informational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional legal judgment. You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy of any information before relying on it in legal proceedings or advice.

The Add-in and its associated services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications at any time without prior notice.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenCaseLaw and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the Add-in, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated verification results.

9. Subscription and cancellation

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; your Pro access will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised accordingly. Continued use of the Add-in after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by Swiss law. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Zurich, Switzerland.
